Sluggish steel market postpones Indonesian nickel smelter projects
Several Chinese companies are putting off commissioning of nickel smelters in Indonesia due to weak steel markets and prices, according to Chinese analysts. Chinese firms had been looking to smelters to maintain supply to the country’s stainless producers after Indonesia’s ban on ore exports, Kallanish notes.
