Scrap shortages seen hampering Ukraine's steel export competitiveness
Persistent shortages of domestic scrap will hamper the competitiveness of Ukrainian steelmakers in export markets, according to Ukrainian EAF-based steelmaker and seamless pipe producer Interpipe.
The domestic scrap deficit in the first quarter amounted to 221,000 tonnes, or 23% of the market’s requirement, while scrap exports from the country totalled 266,000t.
