Rail dispute in Narvik threatens LKAB ore movements
Sweden’s LKAB says that industrial action by Norwegian railway engine drivers is affecting the operation of its iron ore trains.
The miner has its own railway operations from its mines and processing centres to the ports of Narvik in Norway and Luleå in Sweden. These are run by the company’s subsidiary LKAB Malmtrafik AS. The transport capacity on the ore railway is 40 million tons per year, the company confirms.
