Ilyich Iron & Steel Works hits record pig iron output in March
Mariupol-based Ilyich Iron & Steel Works’s blast furnace produced a monthly record 140,000 tonnes of pig iron in March. It also set a new record for daily output: 6,800t of cold pig iron on 31 March.
"It is commercial pig iron that is keeping the blast furnace utilisation rates high and helping retain jobs," Ilyich chief executive Yuriy Zinchenko says in a statement seen by Kallanish.
