Pangang confirms closure of Chengdu plant by April
South-western China’s Panzhihua Iron and Steel (Pangang), part of Anshan Iron and Steel (Angang), says it will close its Chengdu Steel and Vanadium plant by the end of March. Although the plant’s closure has long been on the cards, the news is positive for the industry. It marks a rare closure of capacity by a state-owned firm in the face of weak demand, analysts tell Kallanish.
