Mexico faces import crisis similar to US
As American steel companies battle what has been called “a tidal wave of imports”, Nafta neighbour to the south, Mexico, is combatting a similar situation.
Last year, Mexican steel demand grew 12% and domestic production grew 4%, while imports surged 25%, said Ternium Mexico VP Regulo Salinas at an American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) press briefing this week in Chicago.
