Metinvest rebuilds bridge as loss of rail link threatens production
In Ukraine, Metinvest Group is currently working to rebuild a bridge and restore a railway link to Ilyich Iron & Steel Works and Azovstal steel plant, both in the town of Mariupol. The rail link was blown up on 23 December in action related to the region’s separatist conflict. An employee from Azovstal’s heavy plate mill was killed and a maintenance fitter critically injured. Both were said to be part of a group trying to defend the bridge.
