Korean imports from China hit six-year high in 2014
South Korea imported 13.4 million tonnes of Chinese steel products in 2014, according to a report by the Korean Iron and Steel Association (Kosa). The figure was up 34.9% from 2013 and the highest since 2008, it adds.
Korea’s total steel imports were up 17.3% in 2014 to 22.74mt, giving China almost a 60% share of Korean imports. The figure also means China’s growth accounted for close to 100% of the increase in imports, Kallanish notes.…
