Kobe Steel boosts sales with lower output
Japan's Kobe Steel earned a net profit of Yen 22.9 billion ($223 million) over April-June, up from Yen 18.7 billion in the same quarter last year, Kallanish learns. However, the company's crude steel output fell 5.8% over the same period to 1.77 million tonnes.
The company's sales volume in the second quarter of the year also fell 5.88% year-on-year to 1.44 million t, while sales revenues increased 6.3% to Yen 444.8 billion.
