Italian woes bring down scrap price
A string of steel mill woes and maintenance closures in Italy have pushed down domestic scrap prices, according to market sources. On 10 October, the Arvedi Cremona mill was hit by a fire (see Kallanish, 13 Oct), and attempts this month to restart Cremona’s electric arc furnace (EAF) resulted in another incident that will delay the relight, Kallanish understands.
