India largest DRI producer in Q1, but Iran fast catching up
India maintained its position as the world’s top direct reduced iron producer in the first quarter with 4.88 million tonnes of output. This was up 2% year-on-year. Iran, however, is rapidly catching up as the country saw a 27% surge in Q1 DRI output to 4.01mt, according to the latest World Steel Association data.
