Higher shipments and sales prices see Essar Steel Algoma return to profit

Canadian steelmaker Essar Steel Algoma registered a 4.7% year-on-year increase in shipments in the quarter through December to 618,538 tonnes, Kallanish learns from the company. Average realised sales returns grew 15.8%. This boosted the firm’s net income in the quarter to CAD 26.8 million ($21.2m) versus a loss of CAD -38.6m in the year-earlier period.
