Guatemala government leaves open flank in LatAm-China import battle
The government of the Central American country of Guatemala is thwarting efforts by Latin American steel producers to counter the surge of Chinese steel imports into the region. The regional steelmakers association Alacero tells Kallanish that the government’s decision not to impose anti-dumping measures on galvanized steel from China will jeopardise steel sector jobs in Guatemala and beyond.
