German scrap use dips in 2014 despite crude steel increase, reports BDSV
Total shipments of ferrous scrap in Germany slipped 1.7% last year to 27.1 million tonnes, mainly because of lower export sales, as well as reduced domestic consumption, says Germany’s ferrous scrap federation BDSV. German scrap exports fell 1.7% year-on-year to 9.08mt. Prices continued to trend down, and the industry cannot be happy with how the year went, according to federation president, Rainer Cosson.
