German scrap market suffers on low raw materials prices
Nationwide average scrap prices in Germany in August have fallen again by €20/tonne ($22.5/t), Kallanish learns.
In addition to the seasonal effect of summer works closures, and hence reduced EAF mill demand, the scrap price has been dragged down along with the fall in iron ore by around -18%.
