Egypt imposes 3-year import duty on rebar following investigation
Egypt has imposed a definitive safeguard duty on rebar imports, which amounts to 8% of the rebar's cif value or EGP 408/tonne ($53/t), whichever is the greater. This is to protect domestic steelmakers, who have been hit by energy price hikes and shortages, from a surge in rebar imports, Egypt’s trade and industry ministry says.
