Chinese steel slumps despite house price recovery
Chinese steel futures slumped on Tuesday. Although the latest data shows another increase in house prices in July, this has not led to a pick-up in new investment however, Kallanish notes.
The January 2016 rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed down CNY 25/tonne at CNY 2,049/t ($320/t) on Tuesday, while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed down CNY 17/t at CNY 2,075/t.
