Chinese steel output ends year strong, despite weak market
Crude steel production at China’s major mills decreased slightly in the last 11 days of December but average daily production over the month was still up 5.3% month-on-month, according to the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA). If that m-on-m change is carried through to other Chinese mills, full year 2014 crude steel production in China should come in at slightly over 825 million tonnes, Kallanish calculates.
