ArcelorMittal Warszawa supplies rebar for new bridge in Poland
ArcelorMittal Warszawa (AMW) has supplied 900 tonnes of 10-32mm diameter rebar for the construction of a new bridge over the river Wislok in Rzeszow, Poland. The product was processed to contractor Bilfinger’s specifications at ArcelorMittal’s cut-and-bend plant in Katowice.
Earlier this year AMW supplied 20,000t of rebar for the construction of the new Lodz Fabryczna train station in Poland; the PLN 1.4 billion ($376.95 million) project is one of Europe’s largest train terminal investments (see Kallanish 23 April). The producer also supplied 20,000t of rebar the second line of the Warsaw metro, which came into operation in March.
Electric arc furnace-based ArcelorMittal Warszawa, located in Poland’s capital, produces special quality bars and rebar for the European construction and mechanical engineering markets. Its crude steel output was flat on-year in 2014 at 600,000t.
ArcelorMittal achieved sales of $3.82 billion in Poland in 2014, up 8% on the previous year.
