232 uncertainty seen benefiting US, import requirement remains
The uncertainty caused by Section 232 tariffs and retaliatory safeguard probes is benefiting US steelmakers, but the US will still require steel imports even when its capacity utilisation grows. If US domestic prices rise high enough, Turkey will still be able to supply the States with rebar regardless of tariffs. This was the conclusion of the International Rebar Exporters and Producers Association (Irepas) panel on Tuesday.
