Volkswagen to decide on eastern Europe gigafactory next year
German carmaker Volkswagen Group expects to make a location decision on its planned eastern European battery manufacturing plant in the first half of 2022.
The company is planning to build six battery gigafactories in Europe to secure 240 gigawatt-hours of battery supply by the end of 2030. It has already announced plants in Sweden, Germany and Spain, but the remaining three locations are yet to be revealed, Kallanish notes.
