Volkswagen Group inks green steel MOU with Vulcan
German carmaker Volkswagen Group intends to procure low-emission steel from Oman-based Vulcan Green Steel to reduce its vehicle carbon footprint.
Under an MOU announced by Volkswagen on Wednesday, Vulcan will supply up to 300,000 tonnes/year of green steel to meet Volkswagen’s European steel requirements. The flat steel to be produced in Oman is expected to lower carbon emissions in steel production by 70%, through renewable power and hydrogen.
