Umicore to build new battery materials plant in Canada
Umicore intends to start construction of a battery materials production plant in Ontario, Canada, next year, Kallanish learns from the company.
The facility planned in Loyalist town will produce both cathode active materials (CAM) and their precursor materials (pCAM), with enough capacity to power roughly 1 million EVs by decade-end. Operations are slated to start in 2025, but Umicore is yet to disclose production capacity and investment details.
