UK’s BEV sales up 39% in June driven by fleet, corporate buyers
Sales of new battery electric cars (BEVs) rose 39.4% in the UK in June, but more could be done to accelerate their uptake, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
Data released by the trade body shows 31,700 new BEV registrations last month, leading to a market share of 17.9%. Year-to-date, BEV penetration is at record levels with 152,968 deliveries, which is about 13 times higher than the same period in 2019.
