UK EV sales stall in 2023
The share of electric vehicles sold in the UK flatlined for the first time in 2023, prompting the industry to call for EV tax cuts.
Last year saw a record number of battery electric vehicle sales, increasing 17.8% to around 315,000 units compared to 2022. However, they accounted for only 16.5% of the total market share—slightly dropping from 16.6% in 2022, Kallanish learns from data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
