UK backs moratorium on deep-sea mining
The UK is backing a global moratorium on the granting of exploitation licences for deep-sea mining by the International Seabed Authority (ISA), as fresh negotiations start in Jamaica.
The ISA council is kickstarting a new round of negotiations after a meeting in July failed to decide on whether to allow production or not. A moratorium has been proposed, Kallanish notes.
