SP Group, Hyundai plan EV battery leasing in Singapore
Asia-Pacific utilities company SP Group and Hyundai Motor Group want to jointly develop a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) concept, where electric vehicle (EV) users lease the car battery instead of owning it.
The companies said in statement on 12 November that the new business model for battery leasing would be a first in Southeast Asia. Their business cooperation agreement seeks to accelerate the adoption of EVs in Singapore, Kallanish notes.
