South America's H2 aimed at exports rather than domestic decarbonisation: OIES
Major economies in South America are expected to produce hydrogen to export rather than to decarbonise domestic industry, according to the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES).
The yet-to-be-developed clean H2 sectors in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile will primarily serve as a revenue source through sales to Japan, South Korea or the EU. The four countries expect to produce clean hydrogen predominantly via renewables, Kallanish learns.
