Samsung Heavy Industries launches liquid hydrogen fuel cell systems for ships
South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) says it has developed a fuel cell propulsion system for ships that runs on liquid hydrogen, Kallanish reports.
The giant shipbuilder has obtained certification approval in principle from Norwegian classification society DNV. The technology was developed through joint research with domestic hydrogen-related companies including Bumhan Fuel Cell, Jungwoo E&E, and S&Sys.
