NICKEL: Vale to spend CAD 150m on Manitoba nickel mines

Brazil-based Vale announces it is investing CAD 150 million ($122m) to extend mining for 10 years at its Thompson nickel mines in the Canadian province of Manitoba, Kallanish reports. The mines at Thompson Manitoba, will be expanded with Phase 1 work including critical infrastructure. That includes ventilation raises and fans, increased backfill capacity and additiona; power distribution. The changes are expected to boost nickel production by 30%, the company says…
