NICKEL: Vale advances Quebec nickel sulphate project
Brazil-based Vale SA says it is advancing a planned nickel sulphate processing plant in Quebec, after conducting a pre-feasibility study on the project, Kallanish reports.
The project in Becancour, Quebec, would have the capacity to process 25,000 tonnes/year of contained nickel into nickel sulphate for use in lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and other uses. The nickel sulphate would be used in the production of pre-cathode active materials.
