NICKEL: Kentucky development group eyes DOE nickel ingots
A Kentucky-Illinois development group says that 9,700 short tons of federally owned nickel ingots could provide a major economic boost to the region, Kallanish reports.
The 8,500 ingots are owned by the US Department of Energy and are stored at the former gaseous diffusion plant in Paducah, Kentucky. They are contaminated with radioactive wastes but the radiation could be reduced to safe levels, the parties say.
