Nickel Asia's Q1 nickel sales rise, revenues shrink 41%
Philippine miner Nickel Asia’s operating mines sold a combined 2.61 million wet metric tons (wmt) of nickel ore in the first quarter ended 31 March, slightly higher than last year’s 2.39 million wmt, Kallanish notes.
The firm says in a statement that its revenues from ore sales dropped 41% year-on-year to PHP 2.09 billion. Net income fell to PHP 202 million ($3.52m) in the first quarter, from PHP 970m a year ago, dragged by lower nickel prices.
