Macquarie downgrades lithium price forecasts
With the anticipated lithium price recovery “losing momentum” sooner than expected, Macquarie Group has revised down its price forecasts for the metal.
It now expects the price of lithium (Asia carbonate) to be $13,630/tonne in 2024 – down 27% from its previous forecast. The research group forecasts 2024 spodumene prices to be $1,056/t (cfr), which is a downgrade of 24% from the previous forecast, Kallanish notes.
