LITHIUM: Lithium Australia protects extraction technology in Australia for 20 years
Lithium Australia announced Thursday it has been granted a domestic patent for its SiLeach lithium extraction technology, Kallanish reports.
The 20-year standard patent was awarded by IP Australia on 6 May, 2021, but it’s effective from 9 February, 2017. The proprietary technology provides for low-energy recovery of lithium from micas, and is potentially a “short-cut” in the production of lithium-ion batteries.
