LITHIUM: Galp, Northvolt plan $789m hydroxide plant in Portugal
Portuguese energy company Galp and Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt plan to build a lithium conversion facility in Portugal, Kallanish learns from the companies.
The estimated €700 million ($789.2m) project is planned to have an annual production capacity of up to 35,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide. The chemical plant should start up in late 2025, with commercial operations to follow in 2026.
