LITHIUM: EV makers face huge production delays on expected lithium shortage
Electric vehicle manufacturers are poised to face production delays due to a “serious” lithium supply deficit starting from 2027, Rystad Energy warned on Wednesday.
Analysts at the Norwegian consultancy firm estimate a production delay affecting 3.3 million passenger EVs equipped with a 75-kilowatt battery in 2027. The impact should reach 9m EVs in 2028 and grow to 20m in 2030, Kallanish learns.
