LITHIUM: Lithium Australia trials use of spent batteries as fertilisers
Lithium Australia has reported “positive results” from its subsidiary’s trial project, under which it used spent batteries as fertiliser additives in the Western Australian wheatbelt.
The battery recycling firm, Envirostream Australia, recovered manganese and zinc from spent alkaline batteries and blended them with conventional monoammonium phosphate (MAP) fertiliser. These micronutrients were then used in field trials.
