China, UK hold hydrogen energy cooperation forums
China and the United Kingdom recently held a hybrid two-day UK-China Hydrogen Energy Cooperation Forum to jointly discuss cooperation opportunities in the hydrogen energy industry and celebrate the 50th anniversary of UK-China ambassadorial relations, Kallanish learns from the Embassy of China in the UK.
The forum opened on 28 April. Besides government representatives, hydrogen industry experts from the academia, technology, and corporate fields attended as well.
Zheng Zeguang, Chinese Ambassador to the UK, says: "China attaches great importance to the development of green hydrogen energy. It is already the largest producer and consumer of hydrogen ... In recent years, China and the UK have carried out joint projects in hydrogen fuel cells and hydrogen industrial parks. Such mutually beneficial cooperation in hydrogen energy has huge potential and broad prospects for further growth."
John Edwards, UK trade commissioner to China, says: "The potential for commercial benefits created by the UK-China hydrogen energy cooperation is huge, and it is hoped that the two countries will carry out further cooperation in hydrogen energy production, storage and transportation."
During the opening ceremony, Wuhan and Manchester signed a memorandum of cooperation and exchange for the hydrogen energy development of the two cities. Wuhan University of Technology signed an inter-university letter of intent on hydrogen energy cooperation with Manchester Metropolitan University.
Another important China-UK hydrogen energy industry forum was held in mid-March of this year by Beijing Tsinghua Industrial R&D Institute and the UK's Energy Research Accelerator.
