Hybrid cars become EU’s second-most popular new car in May
Hybrid electric cars (HEVs) were the second-most popular choice for EU new buyers in May, with 234,380 new registrations and a market share of 25%, Kallanish reports.
According to the latest data from ACEA, HEV sales increased by 27.6% in May year-on-year with strong demand in the four biggest car markets in the EU – Germany, Italy, France and Spain. The powertrain is only behind petrol, which held a market share of 36.5% last month.
