Honda, LG Energy Solution to develop US battery production plant
LG Energy Solution and Honda Motor Co have assigned an agreement to establish a joint venture company to produce lithium-ion batteries in the United States, Kallanish reports.
The plant will produce batteries to power Honda and Acura EV models for the North American market. The companies will invest $4.4 billion to establish the new battery plant in the US. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 40 gigawatt-hours of pouch-type batteries.
