FREYR Battery, Nidec incorporate downstream JV
Norway’s battery start-up FREYR Battery said Tuesday it has established a downstream joint venture with Japan’s Nidec Corporation for battery energy storage solutions (BESS), Kallanish reports.
The newly incorporate company, Nidec Energy, expects to commence mass production in 2025. The aim is to manufacture over 8 gigawatt-hours per year of battery modules and packs from 2027, and 12 GWh/y by 2030.
