Ford downsizes Marshall battery plant capacity, resumes construction
After a two-month pause, Ford is restarting construction on an EV battery manufacturing facility in Marshall, Michigan, Kallanish reports.
The automaker announced the shift Tuesday, adding that it will downsize the facility’s planned capacity from 35 gigawatt-hours to 20 GWh. Despite the roughly 40% production cut, Ford says it still expects the BlueOval Battery Park Michigan to begin producing lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) batteries by 2026.
