First Quantum Minerals, Panama may resume mine contract extension talks
First Quantum Minerals and the government of Panama may conduct new negotiations this week in a last-ditch effort to resolve the impasse over a contract extension at the company’s flagship Cobre Panama copper-gold mine, Kallanish has learned.
The Central American country has ordered the Ontario-based mining company to shut down the massive mine. The two sides could meet this week, citing unnamed sources, according to Bloomberg News and other media outlets.
