Europe clears €2.9 billion to fund battery innovation
The European Commission approved on Tuesday €2.9 billion ($3.5 billion) in state-aid funding to support research and innovation in the battery value chain, Kallanish reports.
The so-called European Battery Innovation project is the second Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI). Twelve member countries will provide the funding in the coming years, with the aim of unlocking another €9 billion in private investments.
