EU to ban ICE cars from 2035, mandate alternative fuel infrastructure
The European Union on Wednesday made official its plan to ban sales of new fossil-fuel cars from 2035, as part of the so-called Fit for 55 strategy, Kallanish reports.
Based on the plan, new cars’ average emissions must come down 55% by 2030 and 100% by 2035, compared to 2021 levels. This means that beyond 2035 all new car sales should be of zero-emission vehicles. The previous target for car CO2 reductions in 2030 was 37.5%.
