EU to accelerate hydrogen deployment to replace Russian fossil fuels
The European Commission is proposing the creation of a hydrogen accelerator to develop means to support its ambition to wean off Russian fossil fuels’ imports, Kallanish reports.
The project would develop infrastructure, storage facilities and ports to replace demand for Russian gas with additional 10 million tonnes of imported renewable hydrogen from diverse sources. Additionally, Europe will also produce 5m t of green hydrogen domestically.
