EU BEV sales contract 12% in May
The boost in Belgian battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales was insufficient to prevent a decline in the EU’s total BEV registrations last month, Kallanish reports.
Data released Thursday by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) showed BEV penetration shrunk in May from 13.8% to 12.5% driven by declines in major markets, particularly Germany. Total BEV registrations fell 12% year-on-year to 114,308 units.
