DOE to provide $45m to develop more efficient EV batteries
The US Department of Energy is providing up to $45 million to develop more efficient electric vehicles batteries, Kallanish reports.
The funding from the agency’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy will support the domestic development of advanced batteries that charge faster, have greater efficiency and resilience and boost consumer confidence against range anxiety, the DOE says in announcing the launch of the Electric Vehicles for Americans Low-Carbon Living (EVs4All) programme to develop more affordable, convenient, efficient and resilient batteries.
“Advanced batteries are the heartbeat of the electric vehicle industry, and investments to make them charge faster and last longer will be critical to accelerate the deployment of electric cars and trucks,” says Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.
President Joe Biden wants half of all vehicle sales in the United States in 2030 to be electric vehicles.
