DOE aims to cut US energy storage costs by 90% by 2030
The US Department of Energy has a new goal - to reduce the cost of grid-scale, long-duration energy storage by 90% by 2030, Kallanish reports.
The agency wants to accelerate breakthroughs to store clean electricity for 10 hours and more, make it available and integrate renewable energy into the grid, says Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm in announcing that the cost-reduction goal is part of the agency’s Energy Earthshots initiative.
